New at LTE
We are excited to announce that Mr. Barry Andrews, P.E. has joined LTE at our new Fort Collins office. He is a registered professional engineer with 30 years of air quality engineering experience working for Exxon Mobil, International Paper, Quantum Resources Management, Florida Gas, Phillips Petroleum, and US Steel. Barry will be heading our Air Quality Department and providing air permitting and compliance to our oil and gas clientele. We also recently hired John Brown as a Staff Geologist. John brings five years of environmental experience conducting site assessments and providing oversight.
Congratulations to Mr. Keith Warren and Ms. Kay Vollmayer for recently passing their PE exam. We are proud to have eight PEs on our staff providing high quality remediation designs.
LTE recently purchased a West Systems Flux Meter used to measure methane, CO2 and H2S flux seeping at the ground surface. This instrument provides the highest level of accuracy currently available in the market and is far more accurate than traditional methodologies.

Recent Projects
NFA at Gates Site, Denver, Colorado
LTE recently received a No Further Action (NFA) letter on the former Gates Rubber Plant, southeast of Broadway and I-25, from the Colorado Department of Health and Environment. Using our TerraCertTM process, we achieved water quality standards for TCE in groundwater reducing concentrations from 55,000 ppb to less than 5 ppb in 22 months. Based on comprehensive geologic information, LTE injected a carbon-based product into the contaminated zones across the site. MCLs were achieved within nine months followed by one year of quarterly performance monitoring to confirm that TCE had been remediated using the TerraCertTM process.
System Design and Install for Nitrate Release, Arkansas
In response to a release of urea ammonium nitrate, a dewatering system was installed at a bulk fertilizer terminal as an interim measure, to evaluate the effectiveness of dewatering the shallow aquifer. Recovered groundwater is collected in an aboveground storage tank, and discharged to the local water treatment plant. Nitrate concentrations in groundwater ranged up to 12,000 ppm. Since system installation, the nitrate concentrations in groundwater have declined to less than 10 ppm. Based on the initial performance, we are expanding to a full scale system in the near future.
Stormwater Programs, Weld County, Colorado
Using our fully trained stormwater inspectors, LTE is implementing comprehensive stormwater management programs for several oil and gas clients in Weld County. LTE provides stormwater permits and plans, conducts inspections, installs and maintains stormwater controls, and prepares the required regulatory paperwork. Our services include all of the components of a successful and compliant stormwater program and can be provided electronically using our GIS capabilities.
Methane Mitigation, Colorado
In response to several emergencies in Durango and Trinidad, Colorado, LTE has mobilized crews to investigate and mitigate methane releases near residential structures in the San Juan and Raton basins. Within four hours of a recent pump house explosion, LTE had personnel and equipment on the ground and had completed a methane survey to determine the source and extent of the methane that was being released from the ground.
